The Real Culprit 'Lee Yong-woo' Was Song Geon-hee's Brother! Shocking Twist Leads 'Heosuabi' to #1 Spot

Tension reached a fever pitch as the true identity of the serial killer facing Park Hae-soo in ‘Heosuabi’ was finally unveiled.

In the 7th episode of ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Heosuabi’ aired on the 11th, viewers were left reeling as the truth about ‘Lee Yong-woo’ came to light, coinciding with the tragic death of Lee Ki-beom (Song Geon-hee) after he was finally cleared of false charges. The unpredictable plot twists and intense ending kept fans glued to their screens, with the show ranking #1 in its time slot and among Monday-Tuesday dramas, recording 6.5% nationwide and 6.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area according to Nielsen Korea.

During the episode, Kang Tae-joo (Park Hae-soo) began investigating Im Seok-man (Baek Seung-hwan) as a new suspect. To prove Lee Ki-beom’s innocence, he secured a statement from a witness who saw the illegal arrest and requested an internal investigation into detectives Jang Myeong-do and Do Hyeong-gu. However, Cha Jun-young (Heo Jeong-do) reported that victim investigations were difficult because Cha Si-young (Lee Hee-jun) had transferred Lee Ki-beom to a detention center and blocked all visits.

With the help of Seo Ji-won (Kwak Sun-young), Kang Tae-joo leaked news to the press that the special investigation headquarters had identified a strong new suspect. This brought allegations of illegal arrests, coercive investigations, and forced confessions to the surface, putting pressure on Cha Si-young. The investigation took a new turn when it was revealed that Im Seok-man’s blood type was B, matching the culprit’s, and that his radioactive isotope test results also aligned.

Meanwhile, Im Seok-man visited Kang Soon-young (Seo Ji-hye) to return Lee Ki-beom’s handkerchief. However, Kang Soon-young grew suspicious of why he remained silent while Lee Ki-beom was being arrested and why the handkerchief was at his house. Her anxiety peaked as she realized that both Im Seok-man and the killer shared a common trait: they both limped.

Ultimately, Im Seok-man was arrested as a suspect in the serial killings, and Lee Ki-beom was released. Tragically, however, Lee Ki-beom passed away while returning home with his brother, Lee Ki-hwan (Jung Moon-sung). The home, which should have been filled with joy, instantly turned into a funeral hall, with the bereaved family blaming Kang Tae-joo. It was revealed that the cause of death was sepsis due to organ damage, a direct result of the tragedy caused by confinement, assault, and torture used to force a confession.

At the same time, the funeral for Cha Si-young’s mother was taking place. Seeing Cha Si-young laughing and chatting in a bright, lavish atmosphere, a stark contrast to Lee Ki-beom’s somber wake, Kang Tae-joo was reminded of his childhood trauma and collapsed. His final monologue left a deep impression, expressing anger and regret toward those who live their lives without a shred of guilt.

The epilogue delivered the ultimate blow by revealing the true identity of the serial killer ‘Lee Yong-woo,’ who was apprehended after 30 years. The moment the killer’s face was shown in response to Kang Tae-joo’s question, an older Lee Ki-hwan appeared, shocking the audience. Adding to the heartbreak was a scene where Lee Ki-beom, having realized his brother was the real killer before he died, pleaded with him, “Don’t touch Soon-young.” Fans are now eagerly waiting to see what other truths will be uncovered.

Episode 8 of ‘Heosuabi’ will air on the 11th at 10 PM on ENA, and is also available on KT Genie TV and TVING.
