Jeon In-hwa appeared as a guest on the KBS show ‘Hwang Shin-hye’s Let’s Live Together’ aired on the 13th.
When asked how long she lived with her mother-in-law, Jeon In-hwa replied, “It’s been over 30 years.” She shared that she had been seeing her since the day she first went to Yoo Dong-geun’s house to study acting, noting that her mother-in-law was the type of person who rarely left the house and spent all her time at home.
She also spoke honestly about the struggles of living in one house for such a long time. Jeon In-hwa confessed, “I wished she could have visited my daughter’s place, but that didn’t happen often,” adding, “Isn’t it hard even when you live in the same space with someone you love?”
Despite the hardships, Jeon In-hwa shared that her heart melted when she recalled her mother-in-law’s final words.
She revealed that before passing away, her mother-in-law held Yoo Dong-geun’s hand on her sickbed and told him, “Only listen to your wife,” and “It will be bad for you if you make your wife angry.”
Jeon In-hwa said, “My heart completely melted when she said those words at the end.” It was a moment that showed her mother-in-law recognized the devotion she showed as a daughter-in-law for 30 years.
Jeon In-hwa also shared an anecdote about her late mother-in-law appearing in her dreams. She recalled, “She appeared twice. In the dream, she asked me to give her a bath, so I washed her and dressed her in a pale jade-colored chima-jeogori. Her face was as beautiful as white jade.”
She added that she felt relieved, believing her mother-in-law is now resting peacefully in a good place.
Jeon In-hwa married actor Yoo Dong-geun in 1989 and has one son and one daughter. Her daughter is currently a cosmetics entrepreneur, and her son, Yoo Ji-sang, gained attention for appearing on JTBC’s ‘Superband’.
