Actor Jo Jung Suk has officially stepped up as the new owner of the ‘Cheonggyesan Daeng-i Records’ channel, taking over the baton from his alter ego, ‘Daeng-i Appa’.
On the 9th, a video titled “Greetings from the new homeowner | (feat. Daeng-i Appa’s legacy)” was uploaded to the ‘Cheonggyesan Daeng-i Records’ channel.
In the video, Jo Jung Suk greets his fans, announcing that he has become the channel owner as the successor to ‘Daeng-i Appa’.
Playing it cool, Jo Jung Suk joked, “I’m a bit awkward since this is my first time on YouTube.” He shared the backstory, saying, “You were surprised, right? I’ve appeared on Cheonggyesan Daeng-i Records a few times, and then I suddenly got a call from Daeng-i Appa. He brought up a heavy topic and asked if I could take over the channel, which caught me off guard. However, the channel itself is very meaningful to me, so I happily agreed.” He added his ambition to make the content just as entertaining as ‘Daeng-i Appa’ did.
He made sure to emphasize that he is Jo Jung Suk, not the alter ego ‘Daeng-i Appa’. He jokingly explained, “Daeng-i Appa has gone far away. I think he went to study abroad.” This prompted the production team to add a caption saying “Incorrect information,” sparking laughter.
Jo Jung Suk shared his determination, saying, “Since this is the first time I’m starting YouTube under my own name, I’m nervous and shaking. But I plan to do my best and absolutely crush it. If Daeng-i Appa made the channel fun, I’ll now reorganize it as ‘YouTuber Jo Jung Suk,’ including a new channel name, and build it with my own unique color.”
Previously, on the 8th, a video titled “I’ve decided to step down from this channel” was uploaded. In that clip, ‘Daeng-i Appa’ shared a heartfelt message, saying, “I have some heavy news to share. As of today, I’ve decided to step down from this channel, which has been a huge part of my life.” He expressed happiness for the love he received as a YouTuber and piqued curiosity by stating he would pass the channel to someone who could do a better job than him.
Meanwhile, ‘Cheonggyesan Daeng-i Records,’ which has been widely loved for its ‘Daeng-i Appa’ concept, currently boasts 510,000 subscribers.
