Actress Jun Ji-hyun shared that she doesn’t live with the consciousness of being a top star.
During an interview with News1 on the 16th at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes regarding the movie ‘Gunche’ (directed by Yeon Sang-ho), Jun Ji-hyun responded to the comment that she has lived as a top star her whole life by saying, “How could I live while consciously thinking of myself as a top star?”
She emphasized, “I probably have my own internal algorithm. The reason I started working out so hard was to do my job well.”
She continued, “What’s the point of only working out? As a person, I need to work hard and maintain a good family life. I live while contemplating that balancing these things is what makes me who I am.” She added, “If you live your life well, good results always follow. If you work hard, you become a hardworking person; if you do things half-heartedly, you become a half-hearted person.”
She shared her belief, saying, “If you live with hard work and gratitude, you can achieve great results and meet wonderful people.”
Meanwhile, ‘Gunche’ is a film depicting the struggle of isolated survivors inside a building locked down due to a mysterious infection, facing infected beings that evolve in unpredictable ways. It has been invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
This movie marks the big-screen return of top star Jun Ji-hyun. Playing the role of Kwon Se-jung, a biotechnology professor and leader of the survivor group, Jun Ji-hyun makes her return to the cinema for the first time in 11 years since the movie ‘Assassination’ (2015).
The official world premiere of ‘Gunche’ in the Midnight Screening section took place on the 16th at 12:30 AM at the Lumiere Grand Theatre in the Palais des Festivals. Immediately after the screening, ‘Gunche’ received a standing ovation for about 7 minutes.
