MONSTA X’s unit Shownu X Hyungwon is shining their global presence, drawing rave reviews from major US media outlets with their new album.
The US business magazine Forbes recently put the spotlight on Shownu X Hyungwon’s second mini album ‘LOVE ME’, released on the 21st, praising the duo’s increasingly mature and vivid charm.
Forbes shared, “Love is fickle, but you’ll fall deep for the new album ‘LOVE ME’ if it’s a group as charming and unique as MONSTA X’s Shownu and Hyungwon.” The magazine further complimented the members’ deepened atmosphere and music, stating, “The duo, who have become more mature and wise, presents a clearer emotional perspective through delicacy, tension, and mood. With seven tracks, the album overall exudes maturity and sexiness, capturing the sensual tension of love within the lyrics.”
The publication specifically noted the growth and differences compared to their first mini album ‘THE UNSEEN’. While the previous title track ‘Love Me A Little’ was a cautious plea, the new song ‘Do You Love Me’ asks a bolder and more direct question, highlighting a deeper shift in their emotional narrative.
The article also highlighted the significance of the album by quoting the members. It showcased Hyungwon’s expanding production capabilities, as he participated in the work of four songs and “developed a broader perspective on music.” Meanwhile, Shownu’s desire to “add the unit’s own groove and rhythmical energy” was highly praised for creating a distinct color that goes beyond their previous minimal sensibility.
Having captured the hearts of global listeners and foreign media with their fresh yet firm identity, Shownu X Hyungwon will continue their comeback promotions by performing the title track ‘Do You Love Me’ on MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’ today (23rd).
