“Not Even Friends!” Mir Sparks Controversy Over How He Addressed His Mother-in-Law, Leading to Video Deletion

Mblek’s Mir has come under fire for the way he addressed his mother-in-law, resulting in the deletion of the video in question.

On the 24th, a short clip titled “Mother-in-law with a celebrity son-in-law lol Friend? lol” was uploaded to ‘Banggane,’ a YouTube channel run by siblings Go Eun-ah and Mir.

In the video, Mir is seen heading out with his wife and mother-in-law. Mir bragged, “Our jangmo [mother-in-law] got me herbal medicine because I’m tired,” while his mother-in-law showed plenty of affection for her son-in-law.

The herbal medicine cost a whopping 2.26 million won. When his wife remarked, “My mom doesn’t have money,” Mir responded, “What are you talking about? Our jangmo makes a lot of money.” Throughout the clip, he referred to her as ‘jangmo’ instead of the more respectful ‘jangmonim.’

He continued to use the term, saying, “Our jangmo was born in ’58. She’s learning line dancing and plays the janggu.”

This sparked a wave of criticism from subscribers, who pointed out that calling her ‘jangmo’ instead of ‘jangmonim’ was inappropriate. Many reacted by saying, “They aren’t even friends, why is he calling her jangmo?”

Ultimately, the video was deleted. No official position has been shared regarding the controversy.
