Pyeon Seung-yeop has finally spoken about the fourth marriage he had kept hidden until now.
Singer Pyeon Seung-yeop appeared on the May 16 broadcast of MBN’s “Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night.”
During the episode, Kim Ju-ha mentioned, “Pyeon Seung-yeop, you confessed last year that you had been married four times, something you hadn’t revealed for 15 years.”
To this, Pyeon Seung-yeop opened up, saying, “There wasn’t a specific reason, but I felt like now was the time to reveal it.” He added, “Before this, I hated the idea of being talked about by others, so I think I lived almost like a recluse.”
Kim Ju-ha noted, “Actually, you didn’t reveal your third marriage yourself; it became known because you had a wedding. Perhaps that’s why you didn’t have a wedding for your fourth marriage.”
Pyeon Seung-yeop confirmed, “I didn’t. Marriage is like that. It’s not like I planned to do it a certain number of times. I tried my best to live diligently, but those things kept happening to me, and I experienced the sorrow of parting many times,” revealing deep emotional scars.
He further added, “Every time I broke up, I promised myself I would never love again, yet I met someone new and got married again, which is why it happened several times.”
Pyeon Seung-yeop also shared, “In this case, I didn’t tell anyone. I wasn’t lying, but I just wanted to live a normal life. I didn’t want to experience that kind of failure and pain again.” He explained, “From my perspective, I wanted to step away from the spotlight and live a simple, ordinary life.”
Regarding his current wife, he expressed his affection: “I’ve been divorced several times, but she is the person who has suffered the most by my side for a long time, and the person I’ve treated the worst. She stayed with me during my hardest times. Although she might not say it, it must have been very difficult for her internally.”
However, regarding the divorces, he said, “I must have been lacking. At the time, I really couldn’t understand it. This might sound like a one-sided claim, but I’m the type of person who is quite good to women.”
Currently, Pyeon Seung-yeop is a father of five children. He has his first child and twins from his first marriage, and two daughters from his third marriage. It is reported that the five children stay in frequent contact and get along well.
His second wife was the late singer Gil Eun-jung. Pyeon Seung-yeop married Gil Eun-jung in 1996, gaining attention for his devoted love after marrying her despite knowing she was battling rectal cancer. However, they divorced in 1997. In 2002, Gil Eun-jung claimed through a public online diary that she had been a victim of a fraudulent marriage by Pyeon Seung-yeop. This led to a legal battle over defamation, which ended in Pyeon’s victory. Gil Eun-jung passed away in 2005 after her battle with cancer.
