Comedian Lee Jae-yul recently showcased some sharp satire right in front of his legendary senior, Shin Dong-yup.
On May 11, a new video was uploaded to the channel ‘Zzanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup’ featuring guests Kwak Beom, Lee Sun-min, Lee Jae-yul, and Kim Dong-ha.
Lee Sun-min praised Lee Jae-yul as an “ad-lib genius” among his peers. Shin Dong-yup agreed, noting that Lee’s mocking of Kim Gura and Kang Ho-dong was “so funny and fresh.”
Lee Jae-yul had previously gone viral for a parody of the musical number “Who is the Sinner” to tease Kang Ho-dong. He revealed he had prepared a special Shin Dong-yup version for the show, to which Shin Dong-yup jokingly replied, “I’m sorry there isn’t much to tease me about.”
Lee Jae-yul then launched into his satire: “The sin of being the MC of ‘Immortal Songs’ but only playing drawing games while Lee Chan-won does the hosting; the sin of being the MC of ‘Amazing Saturday’ but only eating snacks while Boom does the hosting; the sin of observing people on ‘My Little Old Boy’ and ‘Animal Farm’ more like a human; and the sin of having both ears turn red when embarrassed, making everyone else feel embarrassed too.”
He didn’t stop there, continuing his bold roast: “The sin of making Ho-cheol hyung so excited to be cast, only to only speak to him during commercials; the sin of having the thickest skin but making the thinnest condoms; the sin of having eyes that get closer every year, to the point they’ll overlap in a few years; and the sin of being the only person I’ve sung ‘Who is the Sinner’ about who was actually detained.”
Shin Dong-yup was impressed by Lee Jae-yul’s wit, jokingly saying, “While listening, I thought, ‘Ah, this is a bit weak.'” Lee Jae-yul fired back, joking about which specific article of the criminal law he should have cited.
Kim Dong-ha added, “This is my first time drinking with a real sinner. It’s an honor,” while Kwak Beom joked, “Comedians are special hires, but for prison, it’s open recruitment.”
For context, Shin Dong-yup was arrested in 1998 in the United States on charges of smuggling and smoking marijuana. While the smuggling charge was dismissed, he was found guilty of smoking and was ultimately fined 20 million won.
