Sakamoto Yuji, who won the Best Screenplay award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for the movie ‘Monster’ directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, is returning to fans with a brand new project.
Media Castle has confirmed the release date for the new film ‘One-Sided Love World’ for June 24. To celebrate the launch, the company released a commemorative poster and trailer on the 13th. The film is written by Sakamoto Yuji and directed by Doi Nobuhiro.
‘One-Sided Love World’ was born from the collaboration of Japan’s representative writer Sakamoto Yuji and representative director Doi Nobuhiro. It is a growth fantasy about children who left the world before they could truly know it, living their lives in their own unique way.
Sakamoto Yuji, who has built a reputation for delicate emotional storytelling through films like ‘First Kiss’, ‘Monster’, and ‘We Made a Beautiful Bouquet’, completed the screenplay with his signature sensibility. Director Doi Nobuhiro, known for ‘We Made a Beautiful Bouquet’, ‘Let Me Be Your Cheerleader!’, and ‘Be With You’, adds his touch to the direction. This marks a reunion of a production team that already boasts a large fanbase in Korea.
Adding to the excitement, Japan’s leading youth actresses Hirose Suzu, Sugisaki Hana, and Kiyohara Kaya lead the story as Misaki, Yuka, and Sakura, each portraying different emotions.
The released launch poster captures a moment where Misaki, Yuka, and Sakura run side-by-side against a sunset-colored beach. The caption, “May our hearts reach this world,” leaves a deep impression, implying feelings of love that cannot be reached or conveyed.
The launch trailer begins by capturing the ordinary daily lives of Misaki, Yuka, and Sakura, catching the viewers’ attention.
