WJSN’s Dayoung honestly opened up about her difficult family history.

In the May 23rd episode of MBC’s variety show “Omniscient Interfering View,” Dayoung appeared, transitioning from the youngest member of WJSN to a solo artist.

During the broadcast, a director from Dayoung’s agency shared an anecdote about how she even lived in a gosiwon (a tiny study room) to achieve her dream of becoming a singer.

Dayoung appeared on an audition program at the age of 13. While living in Jeju Island at the time, she initially stayed at a friend’s house, but eventually moved into a gosiwon alone.

When the director added, “I remember there were bugs,” the panelists were left speechless, noting her young age.

Recalling those times, Dayoung mentioned that her mother felt sorry for her, saying, “You really had a hard time back then.” However, Dayoung impressed everyone with her resilience, stating, “I was so full of passion that it wasn’t hard.”

Dayoung also spoke candidly about her family struggles. She had previously revealed on “Radio Star” that her parents divorced when she was 8 and that her father had left 1.3 billion won in debt under her mother’s name.

At the time, she stated, “Because my father took out loans in my mother’s name, there is a debt of 1.2 to 1.3 billion won.”

On “Omniscient Interfering View,” Dayoung mentioned her family history again, showing deep affection for her mother. Her mother reportedly ran a shop and took on other jobs whenever she had free time.

Dayoung shared, “Since I was young, my mom was such a cool woman to me,” adding that her mother “always worked two or three jobs,” which touched the viewers.

She added, “She ran a hagfish shop and did insurance when she had time during the day,” to which Song Eun-i remarked in admiration, “She literally did whatever she could.”

Dayoung continued, “My mom never once said it was hard. She told me, ‘Jeju women are strong like this,'” conveying her mother’s wish for her to grow up resilient, leaving everyone moved.
