The comedy film ‘Wild Thing’ (directed by Son Jae-gon and produced by About Film) is creating a huge buzz with its “golden lineup,” featuring everything from comedy masters to K-POP experts!
Director Son Jae-gon, who has built a unique world in the comedy genre, is at the helm. After capturing both critics and audiences with his debut ‘Sweet and Sour Lovers,’ he solidified his reputation with ‘The Villainess on the Second Floor’ and ‘I’m Not a Killer’ through his imaginative setups and ironic humor. This film is set to showcase the essence of “Son Jae-gon style” comedy with strong characters, an unpredictable story, and non-stop laughs.
Adding to the reliability is About Film, the production company behind the all-time top-grossing Korean comedy ‘Extreme Job,’ along with a team of veteran creators. Makeup artists Cho Tae-hee (‘Zombie Daughter’, ‘Moving’, ‘The Owl’) and Kim Na-eun (‘The Worst of Evil’, ‘Pine’, ‘Hero’), and costume director Kim Jung-won (‘Love in the Big City’, ‘Pilot’, ‘Kill Boksoon’) have joined to perfectly recreate Y2K styling for maximum immersion. Additionally, music director Lee Jin-hee (‘Kill Boksoon’, ‘Kingmaker’) has crafted a sound that blends nostalgic moods with modern sensibilities, enriching the film with custom tracks like the dance hit ‘Shout it out’ and the ballad ‘I Like You.’
The involvement of actual K-POP experts is also a major highlight. Composer Shim Eun-ji, who has worked with TWICE, SHINee, and IU, took charge of the lyrics and composition for ‘Triangle’s’ representative song ‘Love is.’ Producers from JYP Entertainment, including KASS, who has collaborated with NMIXX, GOT7, and ITZY, joined to enhance the reality of the music. The choreography was handled by Nana Company, known for their work with SSAK3, meticulously implementing everything from breaking dance to the energetic moves typical of idols.
‘Wild Thing’ tells the story of Triangle, a co-ed dance group that once swept the music industry but disbanded due to an unexpected incident, as they head back to the stage for a chance at a comeback after 20 years. The film stars Gang Dong-won, Um Tae-goo, Park Ji-hyun, and Oh Jung-se, and is directed by Son Jae-gon. It opens on June 3.
