Kim Sa-rang Clears Up Tax Controversy: “All Taxes Paid, Including Global Income Tax!”

Actress Kim Sa-rang has been confirmed to have fully paid her overdue national taxes.

According to OSEN on the 16th, Kim Sa-rang paid the overdue amount on the 9th, clearing all her tax arrears.

This follows a report from another outlet stating that her apartment in Gimpo was seized by tax authorities due to the unpaid taxes. The apartment has an official price of 366 million won as of January, with recent actual transaction prices reaching 600 million won. It is known that real estate is seized by plot or unit, so the entire property can be seized even if the overdue amount is significantly lower than the official price.

However, OSEN confirmed that Kim Sa-rang had already completed the payment on the 9th, before the reports surfaced. A close source explained, “She first received notice of the tax arrears around March and began paying them from May 8. Payments were made over two days, the 8th and 9th, and there are currently no overdue taxes at all.”

Additionally, while reports indicated the Gimpo apartment was seized on April 6, it was confirmed that Kim Sa-rang was unaware of the seizure. The source added, “The seizure happened while she was preparing the payment. She didn’t know even after paying and only found out after seeing the news reports.” They emphasized that she had already paid everything before the reports, including the most recent global income tax.

Under the National Tax Collection Act, there is no obligation to provide a prior notice of seizure. Seizures can proceed without separate notification after a demand letter is sent. Furthermore, even after payment, the seizure is only removed from the registry after the taxpayer applies for release with supporting documents and the tax authorities review it. This is why the seizure record still remains on the registry of Kim Sa-rang’s apartment.

Kim Sa-rang’s side stated, “It was a mistake to have overdue taxes. We will make sure this doesn’t happen again.” They added, “We will check carefully to ensure taxes are paid faithfully and on time.”
