The “Joseon Villainess” Lim Ji-yeon is coming!
Premiering today (8th), SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Brave New World’ is a romantic comedy about the explosive, war-like relationship between Shin Seo-ri (played by Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress who becomes “malicious” after being possessed by the soul of a legendary Joseon villainess, and Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun), a malicious chaebol known as a monster of capitalism. Director Han Tae-seop, who directed ‘Stove League’ and ‘Cheer Up’, has teamed up with rookie writer Kang Hyun-joo for this project.
The ‘Brave New World’ team released images of Shin Seo-ri, the “Joseon Villainess,” taking charge on a 21st-century historical drama set. Dan-sim, a legendary villainess who died after drinking poison in Joseon, awakens in the body of unknown actress Shin Seo-ri in 2026 while she was filming a poison scene for a drama.
In the released photos, Seo-ri shows off an incredible presence on the historical drama set. Though briefly confused by the strange objects and people’s attire, she quickly exudes the aura of a Joseon villainess and dominates the soldiers and court ladies. Top star Yoon Ji-hyo (played by Lee Se-hee)’s bewildered expression suggests an unexpected situation, ramping up anticipation.
Meanwhile, Seo-ri catches attention as she checks her face in a hand mirror. She seems deeply shocked while touching her face, sparking curiosity about the reason for her reaction. This adds to the excitement for the first episode of ‘Brave New World’, as fans wonder what will happen when a legendary villainess from Joseon possesses an unknown actress in 2026.
