Oh Jung-se is set to steal the spotlight in the movie ‘Wild Thing’ as the rival singer to the co-ed dance group ‘Triangle’, played by Gang Dong-won, Um Tae-goo, and Park Ji-hyun. ‘Wild Thing’ is a comedy following the reckless journey of ‘Triangle’, a trio that once dominated the music charts but disbanded overnight after an unexpected incident, as they seize a chance for a comeback after 20 years.
Known as a master of creating legendary characters, Oh Jung-se takes on the role of ‘Sung-gon’, the original “ear-candy boyfriend” and the tragic prince of ballads. With his flowing long hair, crisp white shirts, and a sweet voice, Sung-gon was a top contender for the #1 spot on music charts, only to be pushed to a record-breaking 39 consecutive weeks at #2 by ‘Triangle’. After getting caught up in an unexpected incident, he vanished along with his “dark history.” Oh Jung-se is expected to deliver huge laughs with his detailed and brilliant comic performance.
To perfect Sung-gon’s unique visuals and gestures, Oh Jung-se studied videos of various singers from that era. “He is a character with a deep longing for a dream he couldn’t achieve. I wanted to support his simple yet sincere dream, and I hope the audience feels that sincerity too,” he shared. Director Son Jae-gon described Sung-gon as “a lonely artist who suddenly appears, completely shifts the mood, and doesn’t quite fit in anywhere,” praising the actor by saying, “He perfectly filled the gaps in the script with his own thorough preparation and interpretation. He is an actor with the power to make even the most ordinary moments feel special.”
Meanwhile, ‘Wild Thing’ will be released in theaters on June 3.
