Roy Kim and Ahn Shin-ae Both Remake Kim Hyun-chul's

Singers Roy Kim and Ahn Shin-ae shared the behind-the-scenes story of how they both remade the legendary track “Why Are You Like That” by Kim Hyun-chul.

Roy Kim and Ahn Shin-ae appeared as guests on SBS Power FM’s “Cultwo Show” on May 26.

Ahn Shin-ae previously released her remake album “Best Before” in April, featuring reinterpretations of songs like “People All Change” by Bom Yeoreum Gaeul Gyeoul, “Why Are You Like That” by Kim Hyun-chul, and “Farewell Trip” by Won Mi-yeon. Following this, Roy Kim released his remake album “Bloom Again” on the 20th, which includes six tracks: “No Encore Request”, “Twenty-five, Twenty-one”, “Smile Boy”, “Why Are You Like That”, “Heart for One Person”, and “Song of the Wind”.

Coincidentally, both artists caught everyone’s attention by selecting Kim Hyun-chul’s “Why Are You Like That” for their respective remake projects.

Regarding this, Roy Kim started by saying, “My album came out in May and Shin-ae’s came out in April. Usually, recordings are finished well before the release date.”

Roy Kim then revealed, “I turned on my phone and saw her singing ‘Why Are You Like That.’ I thought it was for a broadcast, but it turned out to be a remake album. I was like, ‘Wait, what? No one told me about this.’ I wondered why Hyun-chul hyung didn’t say anything and just said ‘Thank you’ (laughs).”

Roy Kim added, “Even if he had told me, I would have done it anyway. But since the arrangements and styles are so different and tailored to each artist, I think it’ll be fun to listen to and compare the two versions.”
