Song Ji-eun and Park Wi Open Up About Malicious Comments and Their Sweet Newlywed Life

Song Ji-eun, formerly of the group Secret, shed tears over malicious comments left on a video of her wedding to her husband, Park Wi, who is paralyzed from the waist down.

On the 13th, the SBS variety show ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny’ released a preview for next week titled “Song Ji-eun ♥ Park Wi, newlywed life full of love and the couple’s true inner feelings.”

The preview captures the newlywed life of the couple, who have been married for 18 months. They showed a sweet side, sleeping close together in bed and hugging on the sofa.

Park Wi showed his doting husband side, describing Song Ji-eun as feeling like “an angel in the form of spring sunshine.”

The two also had a small disagreement over who would take out the recycling. Park Wi, stating that “housework is my joy,” took his wheelchair to dispose of the recycling himself, drawing attention with his skillful movement in his daily routine.

In particular, the couple spoke about the rumors and malicious comments surrounding them in this episode.

Park Wi personally clarified, “I will reveal this for the first time. I, Park Wi, do not receive help with bowel movements.”

Song Ji-eun brought on sadness as she cried, saying, “Someone left a comment under the video announcing our marriage saying ‘hired a free caregiver.’ They were referring to me as that.”

The couple then shared their honest feelings, stating, “We felt we should explain it at least once.”

Song Ji-eun and Park Wi married in 2024. Park Wi was diagnosed with total paralysis following a fall in the past, but through consistent rehabilitation, he has recovered enough to move his upper body.

At the time of their wedding, a controversy arose when the contents of Park Wi’s younger brother’s congratulatory speech spread through online communities.

During the speech, Park Wi’s brother shared an episode: “Recently, while my brother and sister-in-law were exercising at the gym, something smelly was discharged because they were pushing too hard. My brother asked, ‘Ji-eun, doesn’t it smell?’ and my sister-in-law replied, ‘It happens once in a while,’ and said, ‘Oppa, don’t worry. First, move from the wheelchair, and if there’s a problem, I’ll handle it.'”

He continued, “Now I’ll send my brother to our reliable sister-in-law. Goodbye.” He added, “When asked ‘What is disability to you?’, I answered that it is a strong string that tied our family together. My brother used that strong string to tie my sister-in-law tightly as well. Sister-in-law! Thank you so much for becoming part of our family. And brother! Congratulations on your marriage and thank you. I love you.”

Some netizens reacted that it was inappropriate to tell a story that seemed to place a burden on the bride during a wedding speech. There was further criticism regarding the scene where Song Ji-eun’s parents were seen crying.

Later, Song Ji-eun and Park Wi explained through their YouTube channel Wiracle that it was “simply a fart incident.”
