Um Tae-gu Practiced Rapping for 5 Months! He Chose 'Wild Thing' Because of Gang Dong-won

Actor Um Tae-gu has revealed the reason why he decided to challenge himself with rapping.

A production presentation for the movie ‘Wild Thing’ was held on the morning of the 7th at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Entrance in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, attended by Gang Dong-won, Um Tae-gu, Park Ji-hyun, Oh Jung-se, and director Son Jae-gon.

During the event, Um Tae-gu introduced his role as Sang-gu, saying, “He is the youngest member of Triangle and is in charge of rapping,” and added, “He is a character with immense passion for rap, but his skills just do not keep up.”

Regarding his rap practice, he shared, “I started before filming and practiced for a total of five months, going back to practice every time it ended.” He explained his decision to join the project, saying, “First of all, the script was so interesting, and I really liked the director during our meeting. Also, hearing that senior Gang Dong-won would be playing the role of Hyun-woo was the biggest factor for me.”

‘Wild Thing’ is a comedy movie about Triangle, a three-member co-ed dance group that once swept the music industry but was disbanded overnight due to an unexpected incident. Now, they embark on a reckless challenge to seize a chance for a comeback after 20 years.

Gang Dong-won plays Hyun-woo, the leader and “dance machine” of Triangle, while Um Tae-gu takes on the role of Sang-gu, the youngest member and “storm rapper.” Park Ji-hyun plays the center, Do-mi, and Oh Jung-se portrays Seong-gon, a balladeer who calls himself a “ear-boyfriend.”

The movie is set to be released on June 3.
