Director Park Shin-woo of ‘Unknown Seoul’ has officially taken home the Best Director award in the TV category!
The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards were held on the afternoon of the 8th at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with the event hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum.
Director Park Shin-woo clinched the TV Director award, beating out strong competition including Director Woo Min-ho of ‘Made in Korea,’ Director Yoo Young-eun of ‘Can This Love Be Translated?’, Director Cho Young-min of ‘Eunjung and Sangyeon,’ and Director Cho Hyun-tak of ‘The Story of Manager Kim Who Works for a Large Company and Owns a Home in Seoul.’
During his speech, he reflected on his journey, saying, “I started working in 2005, and I feel I’ve made it this far thanks to the support of many writers and the numerous actors here.” He added, “First, I want to thank the production company and writer Lee Kang for the wonderful script. I’m also deeply grateful to Park Bo-young, Park Jin-young, and my many seniors. And to the staff who suffered because of a director with a difficult personality, thank you for your hard work.”
He further shared his philosophy on the medium, stating, “In a world where you’re discarded if you’re not ‘useful,’ I believe the true purpose of TV dramas is to exist for those who have nowhere to turn and cannot afford to pay for content.” He concluded with a heartfelt message to his family: “To my parents who cheered me on so I could pursue my dreams without giving up, my wife who endured, believed in me, and pushed me forward, and my beloved daughter, I love you. Thank you.”
