
“Make a wish, and you die.” With such a shocking premise, ‘Kirigo’ has finally unveiled its chilling story, leaving viewers worldwide frozen in fear.
On the May 2nd episode of SBS’s ‘Jeopsok Movie World’ in the ‘Director’s Cut’ segment, the Netflix series ‘Kirigo’ was introduced as a show currently shaking up the global market.
Netflix series ‘Kirigo’ is a young adult horror story that depicts the desperate struggle of high school students surrounding a mysterious application called ‘Kirigo’ that grants wishes.
The story begins at the ordinary Seorin High School, where Hyung-wook (played by Lee Hyo-je), a student who was far from being a top scholar, suddenly scores a perfect mark on the mathematics section of a mock exam. Under pressure from his friends, Hyung-wook reveals the existence of the wish-granting app ‘Kirigo.’ However, immediately after his wish comes true, a mysterious 24-hour timer starts on his phone. When the timer hits zero, Hyung-wook meets a gruesome end right in the classroom, plunging the school into total panic.


Featuring a cast of many rookie actors, ‘Kirigo’ claimed the number one spot for domestic series within just two days of its release and is seeing significant success on the global stage.
According to Netflix viewing rankings, ‘Kirigo’ reached number 4 in the Global Top 10 Non-English TV shows category, recording approximately 2.8 million views. It has entered the Top 10 lists in 37 countries, including Korea, Mexico, India, Malaysia, and Turkey, proving the power of K-horror.

The drama tensely portrays the process of close friends Se-ah (played by Jeon So-young), Na-ri (played by Kang Mi-na), Geon-woo (played by Baek Sun-ho), and Ha-jun (played by Hyun Woo-seok) as they approach the truth behind the curse.
Meanwhile, the episode of ‘Jeopsok Movie World’ also introduced various other trending titles such as ‘Hoppers’, ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’, ‘Sidong’, ‘The King and the Man’, ‘Student Teaching’, and ‘Michael’.
